Engineering can be very technical and difficult to understand. Our goal in presenting
the Topics Section is to provide a forum for disseminating current technical information
in an easy to understand format. We are using this section as both a public forum and
discussion page to present engineering developments that may be useful for the general
public. Engineering is constantly evolving and new technologies are created that ultimately
may find many useful applications to the typical homeowner. These new technologies can and
should be adopted into our daily lives. We also learn from past experiences, namely,
understanding the behavior of buildings during past earthquakes. This knowledge base should
be utilized and applied by all who are concerned to make their lives safer and more secure.
